Achieved our client’s goal of being elected to U.S. Senate in 1990 despite being a political newcomer outspent by a 9-to-1 margin in 1990 and 2-to-1 in 1996.

  Smart use of paid media dollars enabled Wellstone to overcome an early and strong negative ad campaign and later to successfully advance his own issues and positions.

  The precise targeting and research heightened the effectiveness of the campaign and demonstrates North Woods’ clear awareness of the distinctive audiences in Minnesota and the messages that motivate these groups.

Result: The biggest upset victory in American politics prior to Governor Ventura’s election, the American Marketing Association awarded the campaign the Grand EFFIE, which honors the effectiveness of the entire marketing effort, strategy, media, creative, promotion/PR and production.
